Terms of Service

Last updated: July 29, 2026

Working draft. This text describes how Velia works today and will be reviewed by professional legal counsel before general release.

These terms govern the use of Velia. Read them carefully: they define what Velia is and, just as clearly, what it is not.

01What Velia is — and is not

Velia is a complementary aid to caregiving and a presence-and-routine monitor. It is NOT a medical device, it does not diagnose, it does not prevent emergencies, and it is not an emergency service.

Event detection, including falls, is a best effort, with no guarantee of coverage. Velia does not detect every fall or every event, and does not replace supervision or care by responsible people.

02Not an emergency service

Velia can alert you and help escalate an alert among family members, but it does not call emergency services on its own and does not guarantee response times. In an emergency, contact your country's emergency services.

04Plans and subscription

“Velia at Home” (local network) is free. “Velia Away” is a paid subscription for remote care. Prices may change; changes are communicated in advance. Billing and cancellation terms follow the rules of the corresponding app store.

05Availability

We make our best effort to keep the service running continuously, but it depends on factors outside our control (your WiFi network, the phone's condition, battery, connectivity). Velia is provided “as is,” with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability.

06Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Velia shall not be liable for damages arising from the inability to detect an event, from a missing or delayed alert, or from service interruption. Velia is a complement to human care, not a substitute.

07Ownership, changes and contact

Velia's software, brand and content belong to their owners. We may update these terms; continued use implies acceptance. Questions: contact@velia.care.
